Alondra's First Buddy Walk

I hadn't thought much about Down syndrome until a couple very special people came into my life. Now that I've thought about it, I'm thankful there are organizations like the Down Syndrome Association of Minnesota around to help these special people out. We've already seen some of the good work these people do. And I'm confident as Alondra grows up, we'll see much more of their good work.

On October 7th, DSAMN is having their annual fundraiser. The buddy walk. Alondra plans to walk with several of her buddies. If you would like to help make Alondra's first ever buddy walk a success, click the link. I think you can figure out what to do from there.

We're just trying to do our part to get the word out. Thanks for reading, and please don't feel obligated. But if you can give something, thanks for that too.

The Day of Soccer

The day started bright and early at 7:30am, and ended when Lauren and I got home from the girls championship game at 9:30pm. Well, maybe it wasn't so bright. It rained most of the day. But the kids played through the wet and mud. It stopped raining for the last half of the last game (which was nice). Both kids did their best and got some exercise on a rainy Saturday.

When it was all over, Lauren's team didn't loose a game, while Matt's team didn't win. They both got ice cream and had fun. Which I had to remind Lauren was what it's all about (the fun bit - not the ice cream). See, there was a bit of controversy after the championship game ended in a 1-1 tie. We had assumed they would play overtime or have a shootout to determine first place. They didn't. Rather, it was decided by total goals scored. Which gave it to the green team. The girls on the red team really wanted that 1st place trophy. But after the shock of disappointment wore off, it was all good.

The New Look

We were out and about early this morning sporting the new look. There are 6 soccer games to attend today. 3 for Matt and 3 for Lauren. Luckily the first 2 were at the same time at adjacent fields. We were able to sit between the 2 and see much of the action from both. Lauren's team won 1-0 while Matt's team lost 2-1.

Hey Sailor

Eddie graduated from boot camp Friday. I guess he's somewhere in there. Deanna, Denise, and Del went to see the ceremony.

Here he is with his grandpa Del in Chitown. I don't have many details from the trip. Deanna is still asleep and Denise is on a plane back to Cali. They got back a little late last night. Probably stayed longer than planned to help Eddie do his first liberty right.
